Introduction:
This blog detains my experiences in Global Sustainable Issues a study tour in Brazil. Though course to trip myself, the nine other students student (Cody, Anthony, Dann, Kevin, Christina, Jessica, Jess, Rene, and Carly) as well professor Tait, and guess honor of Betty experienced the wonders of Brazil; Including boat through the amazon and river Negro, the beach and mountains of Rio, the parks of Curitiba, and falls of Iguaz. While the trip had it u and downs it was experience of life time and I could not have chosen better group of people to go with.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Language Barrier: Anyone not fluent in Portuguese will immediately significant difficulties communicating with most locals. I for the week two my primary means of communicating local involved pointing and a hole lot of award hand gestures.
Globalization: The second thing I noticed almost immediately was intense impact of globalization. The vast majority of cars in brasil are European import mostly fiats and volts wages. The fast food chain Subway can found in very corner in the country including one directly attached to our hotel. Additionally the country is incredible well wired with open access public access wifi available in almost very public space and even most city streets.

Music: The most popular music played in Brazil appeared to 1990s American rock music. This struck me as baize for two reason. As most people in Brazil do speak much and likely did not understand English and presumably do not understand many of the song lyrics. Also this type of music seems be more popular in Brazil than US.
Water: Water: Unlike in the US where the Clean Water Drinking Act protect the integrity of drinking water supplies tap water quality in Brazil inconstant and of poor quality in many areas. Since drinking on water of highly polluted water could have ruined the trip for any one of us we relayed water bottles for the entirety of the trip. Not being to count water from the tap as I always have help increase appreciation for the importance of clean water.
Food:Staple food of Brazilian diet include farofa a corn meal like starch as well as rice & beans. The Brazilian diet tends to protein dense with fish, beef chicken, or pork included in almost very meal. Fruit is also extremely prevalent with a wide variety fruit grow in Brazil watermelon and Papaya are the most common. Overall I very much enjoyed Brazilian food however, I would perfected more diversity among meals. The slide show below shows a number common food in Brazil.
